The moment the ground becomes a view.
Some journeys call for a window seat. This one takes the idea rather further. A tandem skydive pairs you with an instructor for an aircraft ascent, freefall and parachute descent, with Queenstown’s mountain landscape providing the setting.
Choose it because you want the experience, not because somebody else has put it on your list. Nerves are understandable; so is deciding that watching from the ground is your preferred contribution.
Make room in your trip
NZONE lists a meeting point at 35 Shotover Street, Queenstown, with return drop-zone transport included. Allow approximately 3.5 hours, and extra time for delays. Schedule early in your stay so weather changes leave room to try another day. Operating slots depend on conditions; a date on your itinerary is not a guarantee of a jump.

The budget, without surprises
Operator starting prices checked 29 October 2026: 9,000 feet NZ$379; 12,000 feet NZ$469; 15,000 feet NZ$575. Photo/video packages cost extra. Recheck your final total, any applicable surcharges and cancellation terms before paying.

Before you commit
Skydiving involves serious inherent risks. The operator assesses suitability and harness fit; minimum weight is 40 kg, and people weighing 95 kg or more require assessment. Children have additional restrictions and under-18s need parental consent. Review the complete requirements, disclose relevant health concerns to the operator and seek individual medical advice where needed. Check that your travel insurance covers the activity. Follow the professional briefing rather than trying to learn jumping techniques from an article.
Our take: give this experience its own unhurried day. Do not squeeze it between a flight arrival and another timed booking. Staying in Queenstown makes the town-centre meeting point easier to reach; accommodation is a separate cost.
